Verdict: buy the tool bare, unless a free-tool promo brings the price per tool below the bare price. A promo kit has to pay for batteries you do not need, so with batteries in hand the Lowe's tiers win only on tools that sell bare for more than about $150.

The Lowe's tiers per tool
With the batteries valued at zero, the 2-free tier ($299) costs $149.50 per tool and the 3-free tier ($449) $149.67 (ToolGuyd, 2026-10-15). That beats the bare price only for tools above $150. The tier guide has the details.
If you can use the batteries, subtract their value: with the 2-free tier and a pair worth $X, each tool costs ($299 − X) ÷ 2. You need a use for 12Ah of batteries you do not have yet, so be honest about X.
Reality checks
- Lowe's pool: ToolGuyd and Power Tools Insider describe it as core brushless tools, a random-orbit sander and a 3-in cut-off tool, no drills. We have not mapped it to model codes.
- Promos can end early. Lowe's says 2027-01-20.
