Lowe's DeWalt free-tool deal: which of the three tiers is worth it

Verdict: if you own no 20V MAX batteries, the 2-free-tool tier ($299) is the one to look at: it costs the same as the 1-free tier and gives one more tool. Move to the 3-free tier ($449) only if you would pay about $150 for a third tool from the pool. If you already own batteries, run the numbers with the batteries valued at zero, because you are then buying tools at tier price ÷ tools.

The three tiers

You buy a battery starter kit and pick free tools from one pool: brushless core tools, a random-orbit sander and a 3-in cut-off tool, but no drills (Power Tools Insider, 2026-10-17). ToolGuyd notes that Lowe's "sometimes changes or ends deals without warning".

Neither DCB2184-2C nor DCB2108-2C is on dewalt.com, and we have no price for them. To get your own number for tier 2: net cost per free tool = ($299 − what the batteries are worth to you) ÷ 2.

What we could not check

The exact free-tool pool and each tool's price: Lowe's lists it by Lowe's item numbers, and our price data does not include them. Compare the tools you would pick against their bare prices at an authorized dealer (see the bare-tool guide) before you choose a tier.

Prices are authorized dealers only and change daily; open the dealer link to confirm before you buy. Amazon links are search links, we show no Amazon prices. How we get prices.
